Dream

At the end of the day, I retire to bed
And pictures begin to flow through my head

Who can say what will be in store for me tonight?
No one can.
Will I even remember it when I wake up?

Will I be swimming with a shark?
Will my purple dog begin to bark?

Will I experience a nightmare that will not please?
Will I be lucid a free to move with ease?

I could fight in a graveyard and attack my foes,
Only to run away! Stuck! Unable to move my toes!

I could get away, with my beautiful wife!
Or a guy with a gun, could end my life...

Will my dream re-occur, and never ever end?
Or will I experience it once, and never again?

It's unique to you! No one else can have your dreams!
Although it seems like everyone tries to find out what they mean.

Dreams are masterpieces
They're phenomenal, fantastic, frightening.
Unlocking the secrets of dreams - why they exist, would be like finding el dorado or the fountain of youth.

It would be...

Glorious

So now your understand.

You understand why I love to retire to bed,
And wait for the dreams to fill my head.

  1. I like how you describe how nobody knows the origins of where dreams came from and why we have them.

  2. I think my favourite line was "Only to run away! Stuck! Unable to move my toes!" because the punctuation really did a great job at bringing out the urgency. However, I think that this could be improved a bit by releasing it from yourself personally a bit - make it less of a lecture to the reader.

  4. Ahh! Theo, you posted your poems!
    Or started to. =P

Well, I like this one... you could work a bit on your grammar and, like Amie said, release yourself from the poem itself, but all-in-all good job. I liked each description of the different dreams people can have. =)
